Clare Maguire - Ain't Nobody

In the current music climate it seems autotune has become a replacement for talent (Ke$ha, Black Eyed Peas, JLS, that includes you), so it's refreshing when someone comes along with a voice as strong as Annie Lennox or Alison Moyet at their best.

From supporting one of my artists to watch this year, Hurts, to becoming 5th in BBC's Sound of 2011 (the likes of Hurts, Ellie Goulding, and Marina and the Diamonds were on last year's list), it is obvious that Clare Maguire oozes with potential.

She is due to release her second single, The Last Dance, on 20th February, but it is her debut, Ain't Nobody that remains my favourite. Ain't Nobody is, in the best possible sense, pure understatement (something lacking in much of the music of late) and her voice is certainly the main instrument - with a voice like hers, why wouldn't it be?

Her debut album, Light after Dark is due to be released on 28th February.
